Bio

Oritte Bendory is a writer with over twenty years of experience working across multiple mediums: screenplay and short story sales to studios, published non-fiction for a Simon & Schuster anthology, authored novels, launched a popular blog, pitched TV series, as well as consulted on screenplays, manuscripts, and adaptations. Having lived and worked in the film industry in Los Angeles, she has a vast knowledge of how the system operates as well as who the relevant players are.

She currently has a sci-fi movie in development at Amblin Entertainment (when Steven Spielberg says, “I love it, let’s buy it!” one does not protest). She also has a drama thriller in pre-production with STX Films based on a screenplay she co-wrote. Her most recent screenplay, a seventies independent film based on a true story is financed and casting.

She has also produced and production managed independent films, award-winning shorts, and commercials in advertising.  Additionally, she managed and augmented directors’ careers as an Executive Producer and Head of Sales, curating and garnering revenue making work.

While she is an accredited writer with literary representation for film and novels, she is also a successful marketer and strategist who understands the needs and hurdles of the marketplace from all angles, and what it takes to get to the other side.

Nurturing nascent talent, shaping authentic narratives, and positioning those voices in the marketplace in the most commercially appealing way is her passion and forte.

As The Pitchsmith, Oritte has taught storytelling classes for corporations, designers, and marketers to help position and sell their products, and serves as an advisor for several non-profits, including Goldenwood’s Dream Forum where she coaches entrepreneurs to develop and pitch their philanthropic efforts into sustainable businesses. She has also been invited to lead craft talks and workshops on screenwriting for prestigious writing conferences, including The Red Clay Writer’s Conference in Georgia, and The New York and Detroit Writers Room. She also hosts boutique workshops quarterly for published novelists, screenwriters, memoirists, and anyone with an idea craving.
