Frequently Asked Questions

  • The writer provides brief, written, descriptions of each idea which I react to live in our session, and then we select and shape the most viable one. In a second and third session, we develop the idea further into a narrative, with the beginnings of a workable outline/overview (See: Idea Hatching Pitching & Submission Package).

  • I provide a price per page to review the script + provide written and/or verbal feedback. For a flat rate, I also include communications, discussion, and trouble shooting of the notes, which often necessitates a new logline and synopsis. (See: Screenwriting Packages).

Alternatively, on a case by case basis, I can also edit/polish the entire piece, for a script doctoring fee.

  • I request a sample chapter, the rough synopses attempted, and draft up a few options that make the story sing in a concise and compelling way, as well as finesse and finalize the letter (See: Submission Strategy Pitching & Submissions Package).

  • In a live session, we discuss your agenda, the format, characters, and main engine, and devise a verbal overview of what the essential elements should be for the pilot, and craft a clearer map, short synopsis and “pitch” that you can execute on your own (if you’re experienced with the format), or with my guidance we can work together from start to finish, whether you choose to focus on the Pilot, the Pitch Bible, or both in tandem (See: TV Writing Packages).

  • In preparation for our first session, I review the a sampling of pages for a sense of style and tone, and then in our session, I help the writer formulate a new narrative map by combining the essential elements. Realistic bandwidth is considered and may dictate a different format. (See: Ideation & Strategy Hourly Coaching Session).

  • In a kick off consult along with a writing sample that I review, we discuss an optimal plan given your strengths, bandwidth, and goals. Sometimes it is a memoir proposal that I help you put together, or if you have a sizable platform and celebrity, perhaps we fashion an attention grabbing query package for agents. Or, maybe your story could be an essay you publish or a fictional short or movie. From there, we can devise a longer term plan for you to efficiently execute on it. (See: Fiction & Non-Fiction Package).

  • With the writer’s objective for the show in mind, I review a rough treatment and provide feedback that helps the author’s internal voice convert into an external, visual one that is appealing for the screen, and organize the treatment accordingly. If the novel is well known, this step may require a Pitch Bible only, which I can help you develop. (See: TV Writing Packages).
